[Steven's got a wide grin on his face when Hythlodaeus accepts his call. He's standing outside of a very large flower shop.]
Hey! They ended up taking us on a special one day field trip to Floaroma Town and I really wish you were here with me, because you'd eat this shit up with a spoon. There's so much plant stuff going on and there's honey and bee-shaped pokemon everywhere and oh yeah, there's even going to be a class on how to make these bun-shaped treats for pokemon called Poffins. They're made from berries.
Anyway, I thought I could show you the inside of the garden store and if there's anything you particularly want, I'll see if I can get them to ship it to Goldenrod and you can pay me back with free Gloom Juice.
Do show me the inside of the garden store. As much as you can reasonably carry. Not in quantity, but spread. I would like to see what I can recreate among the grass-type curatives.
[He grins back before he looks on in wonder at the shop behind him.]
Attend the class and take good notes, Steven. I expect a proper demonstration upon your arrival. If they have recipe books, so you should buy one.
[And Steven will walk into the store, switching the gear's camera to outward facing mode so that he can give Hythlo a better view of everything inside. As he walks on, he narrates everything he's seeing for Hythlodaeus in a calm, soothing voice. His Radio Voice, it must be.
When he reaches the berry section of the store, he chuckles,]
Ah. Here's the poffin cookbooks. Looks like they'll be staging the lessons here in a couple hours--I could see if I can stream it to you then, unless you've anything much to do besides babysit a sleepy old man's sarcophagus?
[Hythlodaeus is absolutely enjoying this Steven ASMR. He finds himself relaxing in place, going so far as to melt onto the floor and prop his phone against something. ]
...That I do not. I dare not leave in case the sarcophagus decides to sprout legs and go off somewhere. I had to ask it to get off the ceiling the other day.
Look through them a bit, would you? One with a good variety of recipes should be sufficient... And do continue to use that voice. If you would.
Ceiling Emet is watching you, huh? The man really is a meme.
[He chuckles.]
I'm glad you like the voice. It's the one I use for my radio segments. I can send you an MP3 of that little retrospective I did on Kurt the Ball-maker for the Town Channel back in June if you'd like?
[And he narrates his looking through the cookbooks for Hythlo as well.]
I think I'll get that last one and the one we looked at, hm, three books ago? I mean, sure, the author for that one was Galarian and not Sinnohese, but on the other hand, it was Mary Berries.
[He says the name with a degree of reverence, then is quiet for a long moment.]
I should... probably get Emet-Selch a souvenir. Shouldn't I? I'm getting you things from the store here and I'm getting Dirk some rare Sinnohese TMs... I really shouldn't leave him out, as much as I'd like to. Not if I'm getting everyone else things.
Do you think one of those poffin giftsets I saw at the airport would be sufficient? I can get the big one, with the picture of Mount Coronet... I just don't want to have to put in effort, you know? Not when he'll just throw in in the trash anyway.
Mm, that would be nice. It is much too quiet in the house by myself. I can only listen to my own voice so much, I'm sure you understand.
[He absorbs this and chuckles softly.] Mary Berries is quite the name. Have you heard of her before, or does this merely tickle you?
[He considers as it turns to Emet-Selch.]
I doubt that he would do such a thing. Ever does he hope that people bring out the best in themselves. He was touched, after all, when you saved me from having my memories shuffled. But... Yes. a token gift would be much more than he would expect, and he would appreciate it, even if quietly.
I have, actually. There's this show they import from the Galar Region--the Great Galarian Bake-Off--where she's one of the judges. You should watch GGBO, Hythlo--it's really calming, actually. And it has a tendency to make me hungry, even if I'm not, ah, using other calming measures at the same time.
[Berry weed. He means berry weed.]
And-- honestly, that doesn't sound like the Emet-Selch I've experienced, who seems like he wants everyone to prove how awful and inferior to his glorified self we are--
But I don't know. Maybe that's how he used to be before everything went to hell for you.
