Set nearly across the street from the Hall of Rhetoric stands truly impressive open air bathhouse constructed from handsome black and white marble and adorned in that customary Amarotine gold. From the outside, the occupants are concealed by dense foliage and high walls.

Many steps rise to greet any who would enter, leading to massive double doors. Upon crossing this threshold into the lobby, bathers will notice that they no longer recognize anyone around them. They all seem familiar somehow, even if you entered with them. Yet even if they introduce themselves to one another, there will be some measure of doubt. This is the Enchantment of Anonymity to ensure comfort for all of the public bathers.

Just past the lobby lay the the front rooms, though neither this area nor the ones beyond it are segregated by sex. First is a changing area with benches to sit and pull of shoes as well as shelves with baskets to place clothes. There are no lockers, as Hythlodaeus didn’t see the point in them. Hopefully no one decides to meddle with them while the bathers are occupied.

Just before the hall are stacks of towels that are free to use. The shower stalls are open, though they generously offer soaps and hand holds. The toilets are appropriately enclosed a short walk down the hall. Down the opposite way is a steam room as well as a set of glory holes. They are handsomely decorated, and fit well into the decor despite their purpose.

Beyond that are the baths proper. A generously sized pool lay before the bathers with steps leading in and open air. The water is suited to the temperature for comfort, and the deep end would indeed accommodate multiple full sized Amaurotines or a dragon of considerable size. The statues are all of marvelous aquatic creatures, such as the Hippocampus, dolphins, sea turtles, or are otherwise abstract sculptures of celestial bodies.

Once you leave through the front door (or through the open ceiling in the bath), the magic no longer works. Though as you leave, details like what color someone’s hair or eyes were start to get muddy.

Summary: Festivities abound! There are games to play, frights to have, shiny applin to win, and ghosts to catch.


Hythlodaeus' sprawling ranch has been all done up for the spooky harvest season- including himself. He's dressed as a Grim Reaper, face paint and all. The premises consists of a large lodge, a couple barns, a stable, and a sizeable lake all positioned on the hilly fields. Bales of hay dot the land. Should you show up as the sun sets, dozens of jack-o-lanterns light the path up to the main area where lights and decorations are strung around. The main decor theme seems to be "skeleton", and the visitors may enjoy the projected interpretation of such pokemon skeletons as spinaraks, gengars, and grimers.

There is food aplenty on the tables, mostly consisting of hot stews, fresh pies, doughnuts, and ciders. For the adults, Hythlodaeus will spike the cider with some spiced rum if asked. There is a modest price tag on these items, though there is a sign stating that wearing a costume earns free food. You did remember to wear a costume, right? Or perhaps there is something in your bag or around you could cobble to convince the proprietor?

Egglysian Fields Lodge

A multi-purpose ranch about a half day's ride south of Goldenrod City. Here the journeying trainer may refresh at the inn and get a bite to eat in the café. Framed photos of beautiful shiny Pokémon on the walls of the lobby indicate the presence of them somewhere on the property... The lobby attendant mentions that the attached stables belong to the owner and resident breeder.

Should you journey over next door, you will be treated to clean air, the sights of grassy rolling hills and meadows. It is fenced in, but that is far more for formality than acting as a barrier for the Pokemon wandering about. For a small fortune or a series of imposing tasks, even the humblest trainer might come away with a charming rarity.

The Hunts at E(gg)lysium

There is a poster advertising an odd jobs board. While there is a physical board inside the ranch, there is also a scannable QR code that will bring you to a website. There are promised rewards for certain tasks.

Personality:

Hythlodaeus as we know him is a reconstituted shade from the past, born from a mixture of Emet-Selch's desire to show the protagonist what the city they once was like and an error on Emet-Selch's part. This city is full of people and places all unaware that they're essentially in an ultra-complex dollhouse. However, he erred as he was creating Hythlodaeus for two reasons: they're best friends and Hythlodaeus is extremely keen and perceptive. So anyway, in this fake city with all these unaware shades walking around, Hythlodaeus has been granted near-life. He has his memories and abilities although he is a simulacrum. Even in this weird, cruel state he aims only to be helpful. He is sad and worried for Emet-Selch and speaks at length about him.

In the short story about him and Emet-Selch, we get to see him in a more normal context. Hythlodaeus is smug, chipper, calm, lazy, and a bit of a relentless busybody. In the side-story, he has turned down the position for Emet-Selch, prompting the next best candidate to become that person— the man now known as that title. He states that he likes to see for seeing's sake and not for any constructive purpose... In spite of being the head of the bureau that deals exactly with the constructive purpose. When he notes his friend trying to ignore him, he merely patiently waits in a quiet battle of wills, eventually winning.

He loves to tease and poke at his close friend. This is seen in contrast to how he reacts to the player character whom he is simply kind and patient with. He can see the player character's soul, however, and recognizes them as a close friend from the past.

Like all Amaurotines, though they have their individual quirks and personalities, he skews towards calm and patient. He values the acquisition of knowledge and the steadfast preservation and improvement of the world. One of the most important buildings in the city is the Akademia, after all. The governing body is closely tied to it.

He's clever and witty, able to quickly trade good natured barbs with others. Because he holds the office of the Chief of the Bureau of the Architect and he was even considered for the position of Emet-Selch shows that he is considered to be among the very best of the best. Even though all of this makes him smug, he is still very kind and humble.

The most recent bite of informaiton we get from him is from a seasonal event. Even after Emet-Selch has been defeated in game, he remains in Amaurot and sits and waits. It is there he is brought gifts of sweets and conveys that he is aware of where Emet-Selch is now and informs the narrator of their ancient customs, further demonstraing his intact sentience.
