The morning after his treaty with Solus is signed, Steven forces himself to wake up by half-past seven. Hythlodaeus probably doesn't realize what great sacrifices Steven's making to be awake at such a ungodly hour--the man himself wakes with the dawn and goes to sleep with the sun--but since Steven actually does value this weird friendship (mentoring?) that they've got going it, he'll wake early for their baking lesson.

Jack, the lucky duck, is still asleep when Steven slips out of bed and quietly dresses, just in time to greet Hythlodaeus at the door.

"Cookies today, right?" he says in greeting.
